Explore the magnificence of Kanchenjunga and the surroundings of a beautiful trekking adventure. Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is a wonderful trip to the region of the third highest mountain on earth - Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586m).
Trekking to the Kanchenjunga region is to set off on a remote area trekking trip that brings you one of the best wilderness experiences. The region is in the far eastern part of the Himalayas in Nepal and has kept the best of its natural beauty and pristine environment.
One of the trekking adventures that requires special permission of the Nepali government to go trekking, the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is a beautiful trip. This trip takes you to a remote mountain area to explore the spectacular Kanchenjunga region.
While you are on this trek, you will trek through local villages that offer you a great mountain lifestyle experience. But as you reach towards the higher elevations, you will find sparse villages. The higher altitudes of the mountains have only fewer villages along the trail as life gets more difficult up in the mountains.
However, you can get the best experience of nature and mountains as you trek higher in the mountains. The quiet and serene surroundings of the trail with beautiful nature offer you one of the best experiences that you will ever have in your life.
Kanchenjunga region is beautiful not only because it has the third highest mountain in the world but also because of the unparalleled nature and view of the Himalayan range. As an off-the-beaten-path adventure, Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek receives fewer trekkers unlike the popular treks in Nepal.
But, whatever number of the trekkers make it to the adventure have an incredible experience of a lifetime. You cannot compare the experience of spending time walking through the remote mountain wilderness of Kanchenjunga to any other place.
You will get to witness and enjoy the beauty of the Himalayan peaks in the Kanchenjunga range that most of the people traveling to Nepal miss.

Kanchenjunga trek challenges trekkers in so many factors, from physical to mental aspects. Naturally, a long trek in the higher Himalayan altitude takes sound physical fitness. In addition, this adventure goes to a remote area where there are fewer facilities for accommodation and food. The trails are unmarked and, thus, confusing.
The difficulty level of this trek is something that you need to be aware of before you decide to go on the adventure. It is a difficult trek not only because of longer trekking days but also because of the altitude you achieve during the trek.
The cost of this trek covers you from necessary transportation to accommodation and human resources and foods in the mountains are covered in the cost.
Your hotel accommodation with breakfast in Kathmandu basic guesthouses homestay accommodation and all meals in the mountains are included in the package. You will also have a necessary number of guides and porters for the trip to take you to the remote area of Kanchenjunga.
The most essential part of the trek, special permit, is also a part of the cost that you pay for the trek. As you spend a long time in the remote wilderness of mountains, you need to carry a lot of logistics along with you on the trip. The cost of the trek covers all the basic things that you need during the adventure in the mountains.
The trekking adventure in Kanchenjunga is a long walking trip that challenges you with long hours of trekking every day. You will also need to trek longer days than any other trekking adventure in Nepal. Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is of 26 days in total.
You need to be ready to spend more time in the mountains and trek for almost three weeks. Our guided trip to Kanchenjunga takes you to explore the region in a fun-filled atmosphere in the mountains with safety as your first priority.
As a remote area trekking adventure, the accommodation facility in the region is quite basic. Although lower altitude overnight places have a few teahouses to stay in, it is either camping or homestay accommodation.
If you are good to stay at basic accommodation of teahouses and tented camps, you will certainly enjoy the adventure. But if you are looking for comfortable accommodation, the Kanchenjunga trek is not the right trip for you.
The most common food that you will eat while you are on the adventure is Dal Bhat. It is a platter of rice, vegetables, pickle, curry, and lentil soup. You will not have many options for food to choose from.
As a remote mountain area, the food items that you can eat are limited but you will not remain hungry.
Trekking in Kanchenjunga is a guided adventure. You are not allowed to trek without a guide in the region because of its remote location and unexplored landscapes. Our trekking adventures in the region use experienced guides who have explored and guided in the region several times. We also use the porters to help in the adventure to carry your backpack and other essential stuff for the adventure.

Another option is to hike up to a scenic viewpoint above the monastery while heading toward Lobsang La Pass. A little farther along, you’ll arrive at Rampuk Kharka—a grassy clearing home to a single teahouse, perfect for taking a short break. From here, the path climbs again before leveling out after crossing a bridge near a cascading waterfall. Caution is essential as you navigate the active landslide zone that follows. Once across, the breathtaking sight of Mt. Jannu (Kumbhakarna) emerges in its full glory. Today’s journey is especially challenging, as the trail demands careful navigation over towering rocky slopes and narrow, precarious ledges carved into the mountainside. After crossing a shimmering waterfall, the path leads to Ramtang, home to a seasonal yak herders’ camp. Along the way, the majestic peaks of Yalung Kang and Kangbachen Himal reveal themselves in stunning glimpses. A wooden bridge guides you toward the serene Ramtang Monastery, but soon after, you must cross a treacherous landslide zone where loose rocks pose a real hazard. From here, the trail grows steeper and more demanding, eventually leading you to Pangpema, the famed North Base Camp of Kanchenjunga. Pushing a bit farther upward reveals even more awe-inspiring views of Kanchenjunga, Chang Himal, Jannu Himal, Nepal Peak, and the striking ranges of the Tibetan Himalayas. The track to Gyabla will be left behind as you reach Sele La. As you move through the deep forest, there is a possibility that you may spot snow leopards. There are sparsely populated, remote human communities that only have teahouses open during the peak hiking season. There is no alternative method to link the route to South Base Camp during periods of high snowfall until Sekathum. Today’s trek will be one of the most challenging yet rewarding, as you must cross three high passes before finally reaching Cheram. After breakfast, you set off from Sele La, making your way uphill while soaking in breathtaking southern vistas of Mt. Jannu and Mt. Makalu. The trail skirts along the mountainside, leading you through a short but demanding climb to the first pass, Sinion La, followed by the ascent to Mirgin La Pass.
From there, the path dips briefly before swinging around and rising sharply for the final push to the top of Sinelapche La Pass. Each summit rewards you with sweeping views of the towering Himalayan giants. Once across all three passes, the trail drops steeply past a small alpine lake, leading you into a tranquil yak pasture dotted with simple roof huts. Your day ends in the charming settlement of Cheram, perched above the Simbua River, where the serene mountain surroundings bring a peaceful close to your long journey.
